First let me say, I haven't used PCStitch very long but I really like what I've done so far. But this really has me stumped. I designed this pattern from scratch. A lot more work than I anticipated but I'm very happy with it. However, when I originally set it up, I must have done something drastically wrong with the sizing. Because now it thinks the pattern is 120x96 inches. Holy cow! I would like for it to be 30x24 inches with 8 stitches per inch.
I've tried to change the number of inches, the number of stitches, and the number of stitches per inch. However, when it changes the size of the pattern, it cuts off about 3/4 of the pattern.
I really don't want to have to start from scratch or even from a jpg picture because I've got stars in the design and it took hours to get them the right size and shape. Plus I have wavy lines which were also a bear to do.
Is there a way to change the size without losing most of the pattern? Or do I just need to wait until I work up the courage to do it from scratch again. |

The size of the pattern is completely defined as the size of each stitch. If you have a pattern that is x by y stitches, that should not change no matter what you do.
8 stitches/inch is a very big "X". I don't know if you can get fabric or even waste-cloth that big. The largest fabric I have ever seen is 10 count (stitches/inch).
For an 8 count pattern to be your size - 30 X 24, the stitch size of the pattern would be 240 X 192 stitches. That's not that big.
For your thought of 8 count and a final design of 120 X 96, the stitch size of the pattern would be 960 X 768 stitches. That is a much bigger pattern.
How you would get part of the pattern cut off, I don't know, except maybe just the printing of it. Could you explain what you mean by part of it cut off?
Good Luck,

*********** If I can figure out how, I'm going to send you the image I saved when the pattern was huge and then the image saved after I tried reducing the number of stitches and you can see what I mean by the pattern being cut off.
Well, I can't find a button to allow me to do that. Is there a way I can send you a couple of jpg files so you can see for yourself? Thanks for your help.
Another Note. I have used this software to design patterns for crocheting picture afghans. What has worked perfectly in the past, when I start with a jpg file, rather than designing from scratch. I designed this one from scratch. But when I import a jpg file, I set it up with 8 stitches per inch and the size of 30x24. Then when I use the resulting pattern for the afghan, it works perfectly. The crochet stitches are approximately 4.5 per inch and the afghan comes out being approximately 48x60 inches which is the perfect size. Hopefully, that explanation didn't confuse matters any.

What you can do is send an email to me using the board's email feature. If there is no way to attach there, just explain what it is (in case I forget with it being email and not the board) and then wait for a reply. You can attach using most emails.
There are insert image and insert hyperlink options with editing posts for the board but those images have to be on the internet elsewhere. I don't think you can insert an image from a PC this way.
