Hello: I have a .pat file that I'm trying to open that is 3 years old. When I try to open it, I get 3 messages. One says Error 20009, another one says Error 1: opening file and the other says it's not a valid .pat file. Every time the program refused to open this! After taking a look at the properties, it is a .pat file.
Question: is this file too old to open? And if it is, is there any way to convert this so the program can open it?
Thanks for your help. |

Binky, have you ever been able to open the file? It sounds like it has been corrupted. If it has been passed through email direct, that can corrupt a file. I've seen it with yahoo many a time. The only really safe way to pass a pat file through email is when zipped.
Without actually seeing the file, I can't say for sure. I suspect it is corrupted OR it is a Patternmaker 3 file. They also used .pat for the extension until version 4 when they switched to .xsd.

Hi Diane : I've zipped up the pattern and uploaded it to my online backup account at Rapidshare. You can find it here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/361281833/Grandma_s_Quilt.zip
Have a look at it, and see if you can figure out what the problem might be, and if you should get the same error messages; and I'll check back in later in the week.
Thanks for any/all help. Much appreciated :) |

Binky,
I have no idea what the file is but it is NOT a PCStitch file. It's far larger than any PCStitch file I have ever seen. I could not get it to open with anything. Even myriaCross would not touch it. PatternMaker wouldn't touch it either. I tried renaming it to PDF and that didn't work either!
Have you ever been able to open the file? Where ever you got it from, you should check there to see what is wrong.
