I have been using PC Stitch since version 7 and have since upgraded to version 8 Pro and then version 9 Pro. I have been provided install keys and CD's with each purchase.

I now want to move over to a new PC, do I have to install all prevoius versions and us the upgrade codes each time or can I just install the latest version?

If you have unlock codes, you can download and install the latest version and unlock it. If you have CDs, you should install from there and then update. It would only be a single update to jump from the version on the CD to the latest version. You don't have to go through all the individual updates. With 9, there haven't been that many so it should be easy.

If you have problems with any unlock codes, you need to use "Contact Us" to get corrected codes.

Note - you should UNINSTALL on your old computer! You should not have it on both at the same time (at least as far as I am aware) without prior authorization from M&R Tech.

I am only running it on one computer, the old one is getting wiped. I have both a code and a CD, I puchased the upgrade so I wasnt sure that when I entered the code it would look have the software look for a prevoius version.

Am I better off installing from the CD or just downloading the latest? Is there more templates and samples, or anything more on the CD Version verses the download? Or does the download contain everything?

The only differences between the CD and the download is the level itself and the unlock code. The CD has the unlock code built in and you'll have to upgrade from there. The download is the latest version but you'll have to unlock it if it is not already unlocked.

Remember that if you use the CD, you can only upgrade that level of the product. That is, you can upgrade 7 or 8 to the highest available for 7 or 8 but you cannot upgrade to a higher version. 7 cannot upgrade to 8 and 8 cannot upgrade to 9 via download from a CD install.

I understand the first part of you statement, but I dont understand what you are getting at with the second part. Please elaborate, what are the diffrences with the CD and download as they pertain to upgrades?

If you install from a CD, you install a certain LEVEL of the product (7, 8 or 9). From that level, you can upgrade to higher "sub-levels" - such as 7.00.24 to 7.00.26 or 8.00.05 to 8.01.00 -- as long as the first number stays the same. You cannot update from 7 to 8 or 9 or from 8 to 9 from a CD install. That is an extra charge.

If you have a license for 9 but do not have 9 on a CD, then you must use the download form of the program and redo the unlock key. If your key does not work in this case, then a simple contact to M&R should get you a new key as soon as they verify in their records that you have purchased the key.

I'm sorry for the confusion but it's not an easy thing to describe! I can visualize it but from there is not easy!

Thanks that help. I think I will just download the latest version and use the code provided to me.

Beside the versions, can you clarify if there is anything extra on the CD install verses the downloads? Like extra borders, or samples, stitched fonts, etc?

As far as I know, there are no extra fonts, borders or anything else on the CD that is not on the download. As far as I know, the only difference is the unlock code. You'll see the difference when you start the product. With a download, you'll see "Registered to:" and your name. You won't see that with the CD because it's unlocked automatically.

Once you install from a CD (if you do), the process of updating is the same - check for updates.

I created a new topic because I did not find this one earlier.
My problem is transfering my old patterns, graphics, fonts, boarders, etc. to the new computer. I can view the new patterns but none of the borders, graphics etc. are active.
