I found an odd problem with design titles a while back and reported it. I forgot about it until it bit me today!

If you include an invalid character (such as a double quote (")) in your pattern title, the save feature (or save as) will not work. If you click on Save or select Save or Save as, the command it totally ignored. However, if you try to give up and quit, you get a message that the file has changed and do you wish to save it. If you say yes, you get a page full of error messages!

I believe that in both cases, you should get a messaage that the save command is not being executed because the title contains an invalid character. The invalid character should be given also. Then the program should either tell you to go to your "Pattern Properties" and change the title or bring up the pattern properties menu.

The helps should list the characters that may not be included in the title.

In no case should a command be ignored or a page of error messages be suddenly thrust into the user's face as happens in the two cases now.

Oddly enough, I know of one pattern with a title like this so it looks like it was allowed at one time. One viewer (I believe Pattern Viewer) refuses to open that pattern but Pro opens it with no trouble. It's funny that it will open a file with an invalid character but not allow you to create one yourself!

Pleae help!

Diane
