If I have a large pattern (say 400 x 400 stitches) in PCStitch Pro and I want to create a PDF the whole chart goes into a single page PDF that is not printable and readable. Is there a way to create the PDF in multiple pages??? Thanks for any ideas on this.

There are free products like PrimoPdf that are a virtual printer. You install the product and when you print, you select it instead of your physical printer. Then you just print your multi-page pattern "normally" from PCStitch. The result is a multi-page pdf file! I don't remember the web-site for PrimoPdf at the moment. I found it using Google.
Will that solve your problem?

found primopdf it worked except it created a pdf that only shows the upper left hand corner of the page (like the other printing problem I am having). Let's see what Troy says about this mystery. |

It may have only printed the top left corner but your pdf file should at least have been multiple pages!
It sounds like a print driver problem to me. The only other thing I can suggest is maybe trying Foxit Software. It's a free product I found recently that is similar to Adobe Reader except it's much smaller and with less overhead. You can get it from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/
I have pretty severe memory limit on my PC and this thing works great!

From the print/preview screen in PCStitch, there is a Printer Setup button next to the printer selector. Please go in there and check to see what the paper size is set to for your printer. I have a system in my office where it is blank if I print to adobe. If I create the pdf with a blank paper setting, I see what you are seeing... If I set the paper size to "letter", then it works correctly.
I am not sure why this is happening in the adobe PDF software, but I will continue to research it. Do you see the same thing on your system, and if so, does setting the paper size correctly resolve the problem?

One other thing.. If you are still having trouble creating PDF documents, I would like to know something...
If you go into Printer/Faxes from your control panel and make your Adobe PDF the default printer on your system, does it work then?
This is a strange one......

Am I correct in assuming you can't create pdfs from pcStitch directly but need another program?

That is correct. Adobe puts out a program called Acrobat, which is the program that creates PDF documents. PCStitch does not create them directly. The adobe software "looks like" a printer on your system. When you print (From any application really), if you change your printer to the Adobe entry, it will take was the application is printing, and rather than put it on the hardware, it makes a document from it.

YES DIANE at least I am getting multipage charts.
Troy, printer paper was set to letter. Based on someone comment I set the print quality to best and I set the adobe printer as default. worked great except I got heavy lines both vertically and horizontally. But the good news is when i printed the file to paper - it was FINE!!!!!!! THANKS! I will go back and change the default printer and leave the print quality at best and let you all know if that works too.
Now I have a bunch of charts to try it on.

I removed the default of adobe and it still works so it looks like the culprit was print quality. Great big thank yous to everyone
