I'm having a hard time determining where the pointer is going to place a stitch unless I have my grid large enough to fit the majority of the pointer inside each square. Is this a settings problem? Can I change the type of pointer that is used for greater accuracy? Thank you.
I usually have my zoom set to 200% (14 count) to have the boxes big enough for my aim to be halfway reasonable. How big you need depends on the number of colors you need, the number of fractionals and specialty stitches, the size of your monitor and how good your eyes are.
If you use it with touchpad the issue can be in the touchpad's sensitivity settings.
Personally I prefer 150%-200% zoom when modifying the stitches. The working area is quite limited, but when working on the details it saves loads of time as I won't misplace stitches as much.
