Hello, I'm new to ProStitch Pro 9, and have spent a few days trying to get used to the new software. I've been able to figure out a good deal with it, however, the inclusion of an alphabet is something I haven't understood. Would appreciate any assistance.
I have my pattern drawn into the software, it is a sampler so there are a few initials in it and I would like to include an alphabet so those with other initials can change to them. So I don't want to actually put the alphabet into the design, but have it as an attchment included in the printed design. Is that possible?
I'm also stumped by what I'm supposed to do after I go to enhancements, click on create alphabet enter some font info and then this page opens with graphs and the letters in small boxes in the lower right corner of each box. What does one do after that? Are you supposed to draw it into the box? How do you select a letter, etc.
This is a very good program but the lack of some tutorials, manuals for even basicly getting started is a drawback that I'm afraid has kept some from trying it. It is giving some of the best charts I've seen, and just a bit of time and energy in helping people learn to use it would make it perfect :)

First of all, the way to have an alphabet as an "attachment" is to simply have a 2nd pattern that would be the alphabet.
The alphabet you are creating is a "stitched font". The purpose of these fonts is for someone to select a "font" and then type the message they want to stitch. The "message" appears using the font selected, not as regular text - in the pattern itself.
The letters you see when you create a font are indeed the letters you would type to have that symbol or motif to appear.
This software works on the premise that "practice makes perfect". The way to learn to use a tool is to use the tool. Rather than having someone TELL you what to do, you try and discover what works best for you. You are far more likely to remember it then.

I've had the PC Stitch Pro 9 program for 18 months now - trial and error is a good way to learn

I was told by the person I purchased the software from that this forum would answer my questions. I did not expect, just learn it yourself by doing it to be the 'help' I would get.

Kathy - if you will check through the various threads/topics in this forum, you will see that a great many specific questions are answered and answered quickly.
However, the basis of all learning is by doing. The tutorial is just that - learning by actually doing and from there springing off.
No manual will ever have every question answered. That is just not possible. Users are always going to find things that they want/need to do that are beyond the scope of the manual.
No user ever knows everything about any software beyond a basic, very limited, product because of it's complexity. A user learns and uses the parts of the software that are most needed by them. They can answer questions in those areas easily (and willingly, usually). They will not be able answer questions on parts they don't use as much.
In your case, I did answer your question on the alphabet and what the stitched font is like. I did exactly what your salesperson said. The forum did NOT fail you there.
Your other statement as to a full tutorial or manual is beyond anybody. We are volunteers here and, except for Mark, do not work with the development of the software. That last statement was not a question, it was a complaint. Only Mark has the expertise and authority to respond to that statement.
