Do you have to save the file in PCS first before exporting the file to another location? I exported a couple of my new patterns and saved them as .jpg files that were then converted to PDF files.

You don't have to save them before exporting but it's a good idea to save them sometime. If your pattern changes, you can't change from a JPG or PDF. You can only change a PAT.

If you don't, then all your previous work is lost if you need to make a change.

When I tried to save it in PCS, I got a message that this file didn't exist. I was trying to add patterns to a new library, but couldn't figure that one out. When you save a pattern in PCS, it gives you a choice on where to save it on your computer rather than saving it inside PCS.

Joan,

You do NOT want to add a pattern to a "Library". Libraries are for small motifs that are "reusable" parts of patterns. A full pattern should be saved as is wherever you decide to put it. I suggest something like (for Vista) C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Patterns. There is a similar folder there that may be called PCStitch Patterns that can be used as well. You tell it wherever you want it to be placed. It's makes no difference so long as you know where it is and can find the files if needed.

The first time a file is saved, it won't exist. That's what you are trying to do - make it exist.

I saved a pattern as .pat in my document file. When I clicked on it to open it, the message told me that my Pro program needed an upgrade. The program I'm using is still "unregistered". I put my unlock key number in and a message comes up telling me that my key is being used in another program. What's happening?

Joan,

Use the main site's contact us point for that problem. Mark is the one who can help you with that one. I'm just a volunteer.

I uninstalled the Pro program and kept the Pro 9 program. Pro 9 is registered to me. Having 2 PCS programs on one computer was a problem.
