My attempts have been rather unsuccessful. I've been attempting to create a pattern that is a set number of stitches high-width doesn't really matter, as it's narrower, so I know I'm not going to run out of room-and regardless of what I try, I can't get it to work so that the image is the full height of the pattern.
When you import an image to make a pattern, you set the dimensions of the patter and you must keep the proportions of your image in mind when you do so. One hint that has been given over and over that will help you is to make your pattern the same number of stitches as you image is in pixels. A one pixel/stitch ratio gives the best results. This does mean that your image must appear to be tiny to your physical eyes or the final pattern will be absolutely huge! Keep in mind the size of your pattern and the count and from there decide the image you need. You can use products like Irfanview or Windows Paint to adjust the size of the image before inserting it into PCStitch. Irfanview can reduce the size of the image and keep the aspect ratio the same automatically (making it easier to keep the two numbers as needed. That should give you an image that imports into PCStitch with no problem.
I think I've succeeded in creating a pattern. Is there a way to save patterns in JPG format, so that they can be opened using software that doesn't recognize PC Stitch files?
Also, if you have a "virtual" printer like PrimoPDF, you can "print" to create a PDF file and share that. Most computers have Adobe or an Adobe clone to open PDF files.
