Hi
I'm trying without success to export the floss usage table either as a .csv into Excel or into a DTP as a pdf file and retain the list of symbols. Either way, the list of symbols disappears (Excel) or is changed or deleted (DTP).I can export the floss usage directly as pdf for printing, no problem, but I want to be able to edit it first; remove a couple of the columns and format the table a little before saving to pdf. It seems that Excel and my DTP (Serif)don't recognise the PCStitch Symbols fonts.
Is there a way of exporting to Excel, Word and DTP the PCStitch symbols fonts (1, 2 & 3), so that when I export the table the receiving software recognises the font, and keeps the symbols, allowing me to edit the whole table? In other words, to add the PCStitch Symbols fonts to the other programs list of available fonts?
Any suggestions gratefully received! |

The problem is the fact that neither of your modes will support multiple fonts in a given file. CSV files are rather primitive. The only possible way that I can think of is to export it as a CSV into Excel and save it as an xls or xlsx (for 2007+ formats). Add a column for the symbols and define THAT column to be the PCStitch font. You may have to search the font to find the "character" in the default font to use to have it convert. Maybe you can make a table of the characters in default and PCStitch fonts (there are 3 of them) and copy from that for the symbols you want.
It's a bit of work - especially the first time, but it should work!

| Sorry, forgot to ask - CAN the PCStitch Symbol fonts be exported or copied at all into other programs? Word, for example? I've had a look at the available fonts in Excel, and there is only a very poor range of symbols, compared to yours. |

The three PCStitch Fonts are True-Type fonts and are placed along with all the other fonts available on your PC. Just as in my idea of defining one column of your spreadsheet to use this font, they can be used in any other application on your computer where you can specify fonts from your computer's list.
