I am manually backstitching for my pattern. I am using different colors around different items based on their colors. I'll save it and go to use the border and the backstitching is in different colors than I made it. I tried redoing it several times and it keeps changing the backstitch colors-- and not consistently. Different parts will be different colors. It is really annoying. I tried the autobackstitching -- that left bizarre backstitching going into the middle of the pattern from boarder into center of design, multiple times. I'm hunting through the previous discussions and haven't hit it yet. Otherwise do you just skip backstitching? So dang annoying. I have not exited the program as I didn't want to screw things up worse. From what I have read, multicolor backstitching (different colors for different areas) should be possible. Why isn't it? Oh, just changing the VIEW size also changes the colors, even with having saved in between multiple times! |

Backstitching is just another stitch. It uses the color you define at that time. It does not automatically use the color next to it or anything else. You have to make sure you define your backstitch color when each time you want to change it.
I have multiple color backstitching. I don't generally use the "auto" feature because it always sets the stitches to the shortest possible and when I want to mark an area, I ignore any possible inaccuracies in the floss usage estimate to make the stitches as long as possible. It's far easier to change that way!

That is what I'm doing. I am individually choosing a color for each spot. I like the edge to be just a touch darker than the X. When I save, change view, etc, I come back to it, and on it's own it(software) decides that I should have another color there instead and it magically appears! I'm not autobackstitching because I like to pick colors for individual areas. It will be all set and done, and I come back and the backstitching is all messed up. I've tried editing in a different view to see if that would fix it. I have windows7 -- is it not set to that well???
I'm rather frustrated right now with this software. Wouldn't start right and had to wipe it and reinstall. Now the basic stupid backstitching won't work right.
I'm just starting with a simple project of making a border!
Is there no help to be had on this? |

Moopsee, I don't have Windows 7. I'm using Vista. I suggest you send an email to Mark. Tell him your OS (as well as 32/64) and exactly what's happening. It sounds like something he can change.
The one thing I suggest is as soon as you get the colors set where you want - before you go off and do anything else - SAVE it. Then you should be able to load that again and see it correctly.

I do save it! That is why I am so stumped/stunned! I can save just a small section. Purposely stop and change view to see if I like it, and when I change -- it is different.
I will email Mark. Um. How?
Uh, figured out the spot. He has the email now.... |
