Is there a seperate (lower) price for upgrading to version 9 instead of having to purchase a whole new package? I already have version 7.

Kay,

If your version of 7 has been registered, you should receive an email with a special price of $9.95 to upgrade to 9. Emails have been sent out to valid email addresses.

If you do not receive the email, you can use coupon code PCS1022 to get the same price ordering from the website.

Thanks Diane, but I'm not even finding a place that offers the D/L. Didn't get a e-mail and I have both Pro and Standard

If you have Pro 9, you don't need Standard 9. It's the same code base - just with more features and abilities.

If you have Pro 8, then you need to use the Contact Us to find out about any special discounts to upgrade to Pro 9.

I didn't get the email either but since Mark knows I already have Pro 9, I didn't worry about that.

Diane, I purchased the upgrade but I'm not sure how to download it without going to the full download. Is there another option? or a shortcut?

Kay,

If you have version 7, you do need to do the COMPLETE download to switch to version 9. Your 7 will stay unless you choose the same place. The default is to install it beside 7. If you have purchased the upgrade, then just install 9 and when you start it, choose "standard" instead of "pro" and use the register/unlock option under File once it starts. Give it the code from your email and once it connects and verifies, you won't have to do it again. You won't get the choice of standard/pro again either.

If you have purchased 9 Pro, then chose "Pro" at the first start after the install and then register.

Either version - once you unlock it, you will not get the choice of pro/standard at startup.

Kay,

I forgot about the size of that download with dialup. I have broadband and it's quick.

As for PCstitch 7, as soon as you're sure you've got everything working OK, you can uninstall PCSTitch 7 (without affecting 9) or you can just leave it. You have to be careful with the uninstall because the two products have the same icon. You have to use Add/Remove (or Program Features in Vista) to uninstall it. You want PCStitch and NOT PCStitch 9 to uninstall 7. When I looked, the uninstall for 7 had the normal icon but the one for 9 didn't. That's no problem. Just be sure you DON'T uninstall 9. If you do, you'll have to install it again.

Thanks again for all your help! You're great I can't wait to start using my version 9. I like having the available color and other things to the right of the screen.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Kay,

Happy Holidays to you, too.

BTW - one way to know you are running Standard 9 is the available colors and symbols on the right side. In Pro, they're on the left side and other panels such as Library, browse, instruction and so forth are on the right side. The current palette panel is at the bottom in both cases.

Remember, though, that panels don't have to be "open" or even visible all the time. By clicking on the "push pin", you can make them slide in out of the way when working on the pattern area or even disappear entirely unless you bring them up again using the menus. It's very customizable! If you want them to stay, just click on the push-pin again to make them stay while you're working with them.

I leave them active while setting all my colors. Default symbols are set for each color. Then I open the symbols and set all my symbols. Then I "un-pin" them and have them slide in but still be available. With 7, you had to keep going back and forth between color and symbol when setting the current palette. This is MUCH faster!
