Hi I am new to pcstitch pro  I bought the program of the net and down loaded it and am waiting for the disc. I do not know if it will make a diff. I copied a pic of myself and my husband and printed out the pattern. While working on the pattern i noticed that the colours are a lot darker then the original pic. What do i need to change so this will not happen in future projects. Any suggestions will be greatly welcomed leann |

Leann,
The computer sees colors differently than our eyes do. There is no way to prevent that. You can substitute color as you make the import as part of the tweaking. Also, if the pattern created seems too dark for you, you can go back and make a copy of the original image with least contrast or greater brightness. That might help. Always be careful to save any changes in a new file name so you don't over-right your original image.

Hi,
what I do with this is spend a lot of time in the Import window. I MAX the import window so I can see it clearly, then play with the gamma setting, brightness, contrast etc and click preview and fit..so I can see the results, and keep making adjustments in the import window until I find what I'm looking for. Also, changing the number of colors helps too. Remember, in the import window you can reduct and then add back colors as you wish to see what the pattern will look like. Once you hit ok and you have the pattern up, you can reduce colors, but you cannot add them back.
I spend a lot of time in the import window making adjustments before I get to the pattern.
The next thing I have that might help you, since PCStitch (pro & reg) doesn't have the best matches for color in their swatch bars, and even if they were prefect the adjustment of each person's monitor will make them different, I have a DMC color card I use all the time.

I got mine at ACmoore for like 15 or 20 bucks. Each color swatch is actually a floss sample, so you can get the true color. They are in color families with an index in number order so you can find them quickly.
I use mine to check colors in the pattern before I print. I also use it a lot when I want to remove or replace colors to be sure I'm doing the right thing.
It's a must for me when I make a pattern from scratch.
