Hello everyone! I've just recieved the latest version of PC Stitch Standard this morning and installed it soon. Then I realized that I can't save my patterns after I've worked on them. For example: I've typed in another stitch count and saved it. After calling up the pattern again I find the old stitch count and not the new one. Copy and pasting is also a story for itself. The latter doesn't work correctly. Is this a bug or is my computer kidding me here?

Sabine,
I didn't know Standard had the update. I just put it in myself and tested just your case. I took a file exported from Pro to Standard. Then I loaded it into Standard and saved it. Then I changed the stitch count from 14 count to 10 count and saved it again (as a separate file). I now have a Pro version, a Standard 14 count and a Standard 10 count.
Are you sure you saved it properly? Please try again.
Warning for anybody doing this with Vista. You must open Standard to run as administrator. Otherwise you get an error 5 when it actually tries the install. However, you must then close it and re-open it in "normal" mode because your license is not recognized in Administrator mode. A bit of a hassle but it did work!

Hello Diane!
I'm using Windows XP. I'm trying to explain more exactly what is happening here. 1.) Opening PC Stitch 7.00.21 2.) Select one of my patterns 3.) Going to pattern properties and changing the stitch count 4.) Clicking okay and changings are saved for the moment 5.) Leaving PC Stitch and the program doesn't ask me: would you like to save the changings in your pattern? I was asked this question always when I was leaving the programm. 6.) Opening PC Stitch again and I'm finding the old stitch count.
I must say I had been having computer problems since yesterday morning. The config32systeme file wouldn't start. So I've repaired it with the disc and downloaded all Service Packs and other updates. Now my computer is working fine again. But the problem with PC Stitch is still there. I've just checked it. It was a little bit strange, when I've recieved the update this morning. I had opened PC Stitch for a short time and wanted to close it. Then I was told that I don't have got a normal version but a demo. Don't know, why. I've clicked that away and got the message about the update which I at once downloaded before closing the computer.
Any idea what could be wrong?
Greetings Sabine

Sabine,
I have no idea why it doesn't ask you to save it when you make a change. That is where the bug is. Just changing the setting does not change the file. You must still save it manually even if you are not prompted to do so.
What I did (using Vista) after I got it updated and the license fixed with Admin/normal modes was:
Open PCStitch Standard (7.00.21) as a "normal" user by right clicking on the file and selecting Standard (default is currently set to Pro). Change the stitch count from 14 to 10 Save the file Exit the program. Repeat the first step (Open) and looking at the pattern properties.
It is saved.
Your problem is it is not recognizing a simple change of stitch count as a change. If you make any changes (such as add and then remove a stitch (effect is no change), the program does ask if you want to save it. Changing ONLY the properties (or that part of the properties) is not considered a change.
It is not your problem, it is a bug that has been introduced with this new version. Moral - don't wait for the program to ask you, do it yourself to be safe.

Thank you, Diane! I've checked it again and did what you said. Now the stitch count has been saved permanently. I'm relieved that I don't need to reinstall PC Stitch and may work normally with it. At this time I've got running a SAL, where the second part should be published soon.
@ Marc: Would you be so kind and fix the bug for us?
TIA Sabine |
