I was checking some old free patterns last night that were in PCStitch versio 6 format (and zipped). Pro opened them fine, to trouble. However, I DID NOT touch the patterns. In fact, I just wanted a glance because I was checking for duplicates. I popped them in, took one look and then closed the pattern. EVERY TIME I did this, it asked me if I wanted to save the changes to the pattern. I didn't make any changes!
Is this because they were loaded from a zip or is it because they were PCStitch version 6 format? I haven't noticed this problem with version 7 files loaded or other zips.
I forgot to close PCStitch when I went to bed and my husband (being a sweetheart) saved the last one (elswhere under a different name) because he didn't know if I had changed it or not.

Hello Diane,
The only time the software should ask you to save the pattern is if there is a change to it, so the answer to your question is no... It should not do that.
But, there may be changes being made to an old pattern that you may not be aware of. For example, Lets say a floss color changed from version 6 to Pro, and your pattern included that floss. That color would be changed, causing a change in the pattern..
How about we do this.. Attach one of your patterns to an email and send it to me. I will see what is causing the issue..
Sincerely, Troy |

Troy, I am frustrated and confused! I know this problem occured last night. Even my hubby who won't touch anything in PCStitch had it happen when he shut it down last night. I tried it with several different EMS free designs. I even got Ellen's permission to send you one for testing purposes but when I tried it again, it wouldn't fail!
The only thing worse than a known problem is one that won't fail consistently! Do you still want the pattern to check at your end to see if you can get it to fail? If so, what email address should I use - the one I used during beta testing? If you are a member of the board, you can get a copy of one pattern that was involved last night from Ellen's board's PCStitch Format > Card Designs > Spring Flowers. There were others but this one I remember clearly because the name changed.

Let's wait and see if it starts hapenning again. If it does, then you can email me the pattern that is doing it at mmiller@pcstitch.com.
