Hi. Does anyone here have an GOOD knowledge or EXACT info on the legality of making patterns from other peoples pictures?

I know I could be wrong...but I sincerely feel that if anyone makes a pattern for someone from an existing picture that they should have the right to charge a fee for the time and/or materials involved in doing that.

If I see a picture that I would like to cross stitch and I ask you to make me a pattern for it because I don't have the program or any other means of doing it myself and you do.....then don't you have the right to charge me a fee for that if you want to?

Even if the person who created the original picture sues...is it REALLY winnable?

Thanx for any help in this area.

From what I have been told by my attorney, there are very few EXACT legal issues, just varying degrees of opinion.

I think that what you are proposing may be legal, but in some cases could be skirting the limits. ONly a copyright attorney could tell you for sure.
