I was just working on a design and needed to have a color froma different type than just DMC Cotton. I noticed that DMC Linen is now listed but the list of types is no longer alphabetical.
Why did DMC Cotton suddenly move to the BOTTOM of the list instead of next to the top (below Anchor Cotton)? I thought it was GONE and was afraid I would not be able to get back to my base type.
Please put the list back into alphabetical order or allow us to order it the way we want.

Hello Diane,
I am not sure I understand your problem. If you send me the pattern, will it help me understand?

Troy,
It's not the pattern that's the problem. If you click on "Available Colors" and then select the drop down menu for "Type", you get the list of all the different companies and their color definitions. "DMC Cotton" used to be the second one on the list because that is where it fell alphabetically behind "Anchor Cotton". Now it is at the VERY bottom of the list, below "Mill Hill Pebble Beads".
I found it when I decided to see if any of the new DMC types (such as Linen) have been included. I was looking for "Light Effects" which doesn't seem to be there yet.
What happened?

Kellyson,
Are you on the latest version? My list was in that order until recently also. It must have changed in the last release or two. I'm on 8.01.03.

Hello,
Troy here. I have researched this issue this morning.. Not a big deal to resolve, but it will take me some time. I will do my best to make sure it makes the next maintenance release.
Here is why they display differently on different systems(for those interested). The floss lists are kept in individual data files. Right now, the order in which they are displayed depends on the order the files are read from the disk (I know, techno speak...). Some systems read them differently. So, depending on the O.S. you are running, they may show up differently.
I am going to resolve this issue by forcing the sort.
On a side note: I appreciate all of you bringing up these points. There are just so many things in this application to look at. As a developer, something’s may seem obvious to me, but hearing your feedback gives me a new perspective. I believe it only makes PCStitch and PCStitch Pro better products for stitchers.. Thanks for taking the time to provide your thoughts.
Sincerely, Troy

Thanks for the info, Troy. Actually, it does make sense although it isn't the explanation I expected. After reading your explanation, I looked at the files in Explorer. This latest release must have re-created this one file. Most of the others have a creation date of 10/28/05 although they have modified dates all over the place from 2001 to the date of the latest update (4/28/06). Only this one file and the DMC Linen do not have the same creation date. They have a creation date of 4/28/06. That must have re-arranged it's order. It must have been co-incidence that it was truly alphabetical up until this point.
I do appreciate having a set sort to it. That will give this portion of the software a consistent look so users can help each other more quickly.
thanks!
