I'm having problems with the edit tool. When I activate the edit tool by clicking on the icon, I am able to draw a box around the image that I want to copy, move, or otherwise edit. I am able to click on copy, or to move or edit the image, but when I release the right mouse clicker, I then get a pop-up dialog box that says, "Select a symbol" (This is the same dialog box that appears when you add a new floss color to the palette and assign a symbol to it.) I click on "cancel" to get out of that dialog box and when that dialog box disappears, the image that has the edit box drawn around it appears with different colors than the ones I assigned using the palette tool. I can then hold down the right mouse button and move the image around, and even let go of the mouse. However, as soon as I try to exit the edit tool by clicking on the stitch tool, for example, I get an error message in a small dialog box that says, "Run time error '9': Subscript out of range." When I click "OK", PC Stitch shuts down.

I purchased this version PC Stitch 7.0 earlier this year, and have had no real problems until just recently. I have the most recent updates via the Internet. It edit tool problem is extremely annoying, because basically, my edit tool in non-functional. I tried re-installing from the CD that came with the original software, but this problem persists.

Is there anyone out there who understands what this problem is? HELP. Thanks so much.

I used to get strange errors like that when I was using 7. It usually turned out to be one color in my pattern's palette that had not been assigned a symbol. Even a blank symbol is OK. Try checking all your colors to be sure it has a symbol associated with it.

Diane is right on this one. Make sure all of your colors have symbols and this problem should go away.

To add the symbol, right click on the color icon, then a popup have a line to Change Symbol.
