OK, I've found a use for PCStitch that is more than a little bit outside of the ordinary. It will work with any version of PCStitch.
I have been playing a computer game called "Lost Islands: Mahjong Adventure". It's a strange quest kind of way of playing Mahjong where you pick and choose which set of 10 layouts depending on what kind of "reward" you are given.
Throughout the game there are a series of mini-games needed to unlock certain chests. One of the puzzles included (I've seen 3 of this type so far) that is a 7 X 7 grid with green jewels scattered in the field. There is a green light coming in at one point and is to go out at another point. You must orient the jewels so that the light goes through EVERY jewel to go out where designated. It quickly gets very complicate trying to figure out the path.
I somewhat cheated. It's worked once but I can't figure out the 2nd path. Just set up a pattern 7 x 7 (zoom in to about 400% to make the squares big enough). Set 3 colors. One for the jewels, one for the path and one for the in/out points. I set the display for virtual stitches to show the jewels as "x". Once you set your jewels in the right position and set the in/out (I used french knots for the in/out points). you can make/delete the back stitches through the center of each stitch trying to find the pattern. Each stitch should have 2 lines through it and no more. That line can be straight or bend at a 90 degree. Just play with it until it works and then save it.
Now you can solve your little puzzle!
Now tell me this isn't a strange way to use the software. It works!
However, there are some cells in this latest pattern that have to be bent certain ways (you can't run out of the field) and there is one cell I can't figure out how to get included while keeping all the others!
Diane There is no such thing as a stupid question
