How do I turn off the fill function? When I'm working on a pattern, if I hover too long on the pattern it will put a stitch color in that I don't want. It is very frustrating that I have to constantly go back over my pattern and remove or redo a color.

The fill should not happen automatically at all.

The only time you should have any fill at all is if you have selected fill and have the cursor look like a paint can. And if you inadvertently paint something you don't want, there is an "undo paint" option under Edit or CTRL-Z which is "undo".

For normal processing your cursor should look like an arrow (selection tool) and the stitch mode selected as you want (cross, quarter, ...).
