My laptop is due to update to Windows 10 anytime, if I click "run", will PCStitch 10 still work on the other side? I'm scared!

It should. It's designed to work with Windows 7 and does not require special drivers.

I was told that anything that ran in Windows 7 would run in Windows 8 and 8.1. That was not strictly true but out of more than 1250 games, only 10 failed.

This product should work fine but I cannot guarantee. "Should" is a dangerous word. I have already seen cases where software works fine for one user and not for another and they have the same version of windows. There are a lot of variables.

Again - it should! It uses no special drivers, just whatever your specific machine has. If it works under the current set of software drivers for your hardware and that is compatible with Windows 10, it should be just a matter of the time to download and install that huge upgrade (something like a 4 GB download so be patient).

Thank you for the reassurance. It's currently running just fine on Windows 8 so will go ahead and install the upgrade and hope for the best.

BTW - besides the 10 games that would work on 7 but not 8.1 (out of over 1250), there were 4 games that would work in 8.1 but not 7!

To show that it's not just the version of the operating system, one game in particular comes to mind: Legacy Games' "Murder She Wrote, 2". That game refused to work under 7 because I have High DPI set (150%). I also have it set on my Window 8.1 laptop but only at 125% (smaller monitor). Even setting the flag to ignore high DPI scaling won't help because it refuses just because it notes that 150%. For some reason, it does not complain under 8.1 I suspect that the level (125% vs 150%) is the difference.

It is an example that just because you have the same operating system doesn't mean everything will work the same. There are several instances where I can run a program only if I put it in Admin Mode. A friend with the EXACT SAME version of windows can play without the flag. Why? I have no idea!

Please post after you update to let us know if it works under 10. If not, I suggest you contact Mark.

A friend of mine gave me a computer with pcstitch 10 on it. After I upgraded to Win10 -it stopped working. I can open it as an administrator now, but it will not open any files so I can make my own patterns. Since the computer belonged to someone else (and therefore the program), I'm wanting to purchase my own copy. Can anyone tell me if it does work on Windows 10 for sure? I can't really "waste" the money if it doesn't work. Thanks

What do you mean when you say you can't open any files? Can you create files?

I recommend you contact Mark and give him all the details you can on the situation. Just look for his profile on this board and use the email contact.

Good Luck,

Diane

I can open the already saved .PAT files, but I cannot import any graphic image, ex. jpg, to create a new pattern.

I'm new here, so I don't know who Mark is. Thanks for directing me that way, though.

My pcstitch is not working properly. When I import a picture then click on preview it shows only in 2 colors and no details on picture. I have windows 10. It was functioning properly about 3 weeks ago. Is this due to windows 10?
