I am stitching Vicki's Essence, by Keslyn's. It's a heart with swirly stuff around it.
My son wants me to put his and his wife's names in the heart, then their wedding date.
Is it possible to import the chart so I can graph out the names and dates? I'm not having too much luck with pen and paper.
All things considedered, I'd rather be on a cruise ship. |

The only way to import a chart is to do it manually - one stitch at a time, unless you have it in a "compatible" format. If you do this, I suggest you find a stitched font of the right size and it will make the letters for you automatically. In fact, if you know where and what dimensions are needed for the lettering - you can do that and not do the whole chart, just use it as a "sub-chart".

I hope the answer is not what it seems -- I want to make a birth sampler. I have several books with parts of the chart I want to end up with, but no one chart with everything I want. Is there no way to scan in the existing charts and turn them into a new, personalized pattern?

As a series of imports, what you could do is to create a pattern for each part and then copy from one pattern to another to build your final pattern.

I think I have my answer already, in this thread, but I need clarification. I am going to try using Underlay, but would still have to draw all the stitches manually, tracing over it.
In this thread, you say I have to do this, stitch by stitch. Then you say, unless it is a "compatible" format.
So, can I scan-in a pattern from a book or not? Would I scan it as any other picture, which would include its grid squares and scaling, but I could expect it to align and be editable in PC Stitch?

I've not used underlay myself so I'm not sure what formats are allowed. Even so, any image with or without grid would not necessarily match up with PCStitch. You may have to make some adjustments in the size within the product to get it to match even closely. One thing for sure -- if the grid is not totally square, (not in length = width but in sides completely vertical and top/bottom completely horizontal) there's not chance of matching.
