Hi. I suspect I know the answer, but wanted to ask if there was any way that a PCStitch pattern I made and saved while on my older computer which I don't use anymore, would be able to be found somewhere in PCStitch.

Help is only a question away !

Any patterns you make using PCStitch are saved where you tell them to be saved. They are not part of the PCStitch software so there is no way that a re-installation of the software will retrieve any files you make yourself.

The ONLY possible exception is if the pattern is stored externally and even that has nothing to do with the installation of PCStitch but a feature of the operating system.

If you created your pattern with PCStitch 10 and donated it to the user's library, you can download it again just as anybody else can. If the pattern has been donated to such as cyberstitchers, the same thing is true. If you have it on a flash drive, CD or any external device, you can get it.

However, if the pattern is on you own old hard drive and that hard drive is destroyed, or otherwise inaccessible, there is nothing you can do.

Thanks so much. I was almost sure of it, that it is on my old harddrive, so now will depend on the fact if my son can retrieve it for me! Thanks for your help.

Stitcher,

There is one lesson from this - MAKE BACKUPS!

If the date is important to you, make an extra copy on a CD, DVD, Flashdrive -- anything and usually in multiple copies just in case the external device fails, too.

You can re-install software - a pain but not THAT bad. Data may be irrecoverable unless it is backed up.
