At this time, we are not looking at doing a Mac version. Perhaps we will revisit this someday, but not any time soon.

| My wife is the PCStitch user in the household. I do tech support and the heavy lifting. My wife's sister uses PCStitch on her Mac (I suppose it must be in emulation mode; I know M&R doesn't support the Mac). The sister sent us a pattern file she created on the Mac - only it wasn't a .pat file, it was a .chart file. I think this must be some type of generic Mac graphics file (bitmap + some geometry). But I not only can't import or otherwise load the file on my wife's PC, but I can't even find any information on the Internet about .chart file format or file conversion. Any ideas? |

I think I have heard of .chart for cross-stitch. Unfortunately, the EMS board is down right now and that's where I have build a table of various cross stitch programs and the file format names.
You might try a "rename" of the extension to .pat to see if it is truly a PCStitch file. Otherwise, the file was saved in another format - possibly through a print procedure instead of a "save" procedure.

I've tried re-naming the .chart file to .pat, then attempting to open that in PCStitch, but with no success. My sister-in-law can also save in .pdf, but yields only an Adobe bitmap, which is also of little use. I'm thinking (hoping) that the .chart has the image geometry (i.e., points, lines, attributes like color, etc.) that make up a .pat file, rather than just an image raster ready for print as you suggest. If that's true, then there may be some other intermediate file format that it can be converted to before attempting to load into PCStitch. The alternative is to just re-create the whole darn pattern on my wife's PC. |

I don't use the Mac. I haven't touched a Mac in over 20 years! Since the software isn't supported on ma Mac, I don't know if there's much help you can get from Mark.
However, it sounds like you're not actually transferring the saved formatted pattern. PCStitch is only designed to create a .pat file for the pattern and possibly a .jpg as an export. I know of no way that a .chart file would get into the mix anywhere. It may be the emulator causing this problem.

You might also check myriaCross. I don't know if it works on the Mac but it's conversions may help you get something close that the PC can handle.
