Can the specialty stitches that come with the software be edited. I create my own Hardanger patterns.

You can look at them and use them as a "pattern" for your own designs.

However, if you even OPEN the specialty stitches and then create your own design, it will be locked as copyright protected from distribution.

You can look at a design, make notes, and then shut down the program. Then open it again and WITHOUT OPENING ANY OF THE PRE-SET DESIGNS, FONTS, OR STITCHES, create your own design.

However, make sure that the new design is not just a minor change of a specialty stitch - that might be copyright violation.
