Posted - 08/04/2009 : 09:28:09 Hi,
I've already sent an email to customer services, but I thought that I'd post here too.
I bought PCStitch Standard yesterday. I have created pattern but it will not print out symbols. It will print out coloured blocks or coloured virtual stitches, but coloured blocks and symbols or black symbols just will not print out. I've tried turning the gridlines off (results in a series of blank pages, nicely numbered) but nothing seems to have an effect. This kind of renders the program useless as I don't really want to cross stitch infront of the PC all of the time.
I've also tried changing the printing font to PCStitch and PCStitch 2 but all that does is change the text in the color charts.
My system is AMD Phenom Quad core, 8Gb ram, WIndows Vista Ultimate and I'm using a Canon iP1800 printer with the latest drivers from their site.
Help appreciated. Stu |

Posted - 08/13/2009 : 12:51:50 Hmm, I was having the same problem (with the pro version), and now I can't remember what I did to fix it. It might have had something to do with setting the default print settings in the options menu. Also, if you have anything selected at all, it won't print properly unless you tell it to print selection.

Posted - 08/05/2009 : 10:35:36 Ok,
I tried PCStitch Pro and it printed ok with the default patterns. Obviously I can't test with a constructed pattern. I tried PC Stitch 7 with a default pattern and it didn't work again. So, it looks like PC Stitch 7 is unfit for purpose.
Thanks for the help tho! Stu |

If it works in preview but not in print, it must be something in the print driver that is not talking to PCStitch properly. Only Mark can address that issue.
I do have a few suggestions. First try the PCStitch Pro version. You can download the trial and load a file and print it. You can't save any changes in the trial version but it may help you determine if the same problem exists in Pro as in Standard.
Also, get something like PrimoPDF ( www.primopdf.com ). It's a "virtual" printer. You just select it as the destination printer when you print your pattern and it instead creates a PDF file. Then you can print the PDF file! It's an extra step but it might work.

Posted - 08/05/2009 : 04:15:26 Hi,
Yeah, the preview shows symbols. The preview works exactly as I would expect it too. At first I thought I'd run out of coloured ink, but the fact that I can print coloured blocks and coloured virtual stitches says otherwise.
I'm using the 64bit version of my OS.

Do the symbols show normally if you do a print preview?

Thanks for that, but I've already tried altering those settings (that how I got it to print coloured blocks and virtual stitches).

The printing section has an option for the type of symbols to print. On the right side of the print dialog window is "Printing Options". The first item there is a drop-down window for the type of symbols to use. It should work.
I also have Vista Ultimate (32 bit - SP2). I have an HP printer but I have NO problems.
