I am new to cross-stitching so even after I have the image I am not sure what the next step would be. I posted the results of my first attempt in my Webshot Craft Album (Gertrude Perry images). It looks like the end result would be a very small image to cross-stitch? What would I need to do to enlarge?

OMG, thanks. You jogged my memory. I used to play around lots with Paint; that's where I saw the pixel count. Now it is beginning to make sense. Will let you know how I make out.

What you do is open the image that you are importing in a graphics program. Most have options to tell you the size. I use Microsoft Paint and it has an "Attributes" command that will tell you the pizel width and height. You can also use your graphics program to reduce the size of the image is the pixel count is too big.
Say, you would like it to be about 10 inches wide. For 14 count that is only 140 stitches. Therefore you don't want the width of the original image to be wider than 140 pixels. You can adjust your orignal image to the right pixel dimensions and then save it to another name (always protect the original file in case you need to start over). Then import the saved file and tell PCStitch that you want your width to be 140 stitches. It should adjust the height accordingly if you tell it to keep the same aspect ratio (it will with Pro).

If you used 14 count rather than 18 count it would be bigger. Normally you set the stitch count you want as you import. I find to get the best quality pattern, you should try to keep the stitch count as close to the pixel count as possible. Therefore, you image can't be too big.
