Am I missing something? Is it possible to highlight a phrase and edit it once you have finished typing it? Also, does anyone know how to keep all characters of a word on the same line without one or two overflowing onto the next line?

Any help is appreciated!

Once you have "finalized" a text run by changing draw modes or clicking in a new location on the design grid, you can't go back and edit the text.

There is no word wrap functionality in te text feature, but it is a good idea. I will log this into the bug database so that we can add it in a future update.
