I was wondering if deleting PC Stitch 7 would affect any of my saved patterns.

I have OVER 1500 patterns in different versions (6, 7 & Pro). Some are duplicates. Would I need to go through EACH pattern to make sure I do not lose it? Can I just delete "PC Stitch"? I also have the viewer (have to due to POL) and Pro.

Hello,

That is a great question. Let me see if I can shed a little light on this topic…

Our products use an industry standard installation program that keeps track of all the files placed on your computer at installation time. When you uninstall our products, only those files placed on your system are removed. (It gets a little trickier that that with system modules, but you really do not need to worry about those).

So, when you uninstall, your patterns will remain since they were not put there from the installation.

That being said, I would recommend you come up with some plan for saving your patterns in a central location. I like what we did with PCStitch 7, and continued with Pro. There is a folder in “My Documents” for your patterns. I would recommend you put all your designs in there. You can even create your own sub folders to organize them. It will help you when searching.

The sub folders work great when you use the pattern browser. Imagine if you have sub folders under your “My Cross Stitch Patterns” called “Trees”, “Dogs”, or what ever else you are into.. The browser panel would display the folders, and when you clicked on one, the patterns inside the folder would be previewed. You can even create folders within subfolders.

Remember; creating folders is a basic operation of Windows. You can create them when you save your patterns from PCStitch, or you can move them around using Windows Explorer.

Hop this helps.

Sincerely,
Troy
