Posted - 05/14/2006 : 21:03:16 I'm new and just LOVE PC Stitch Pro, thanks for a great program. I use it mainly to do my own designs, and can spend hours doodling. Do have a couple of suggestions tho:
1. DMC has come out with some light effects thread, and also a glow-in-the dark. Will they be in future upgrades?
2. In using the pattern viewer, when you have a a bunch of patterns viewed at the same time and move a mouse over a pattern, it would be nice if the name of the pattern shows up on a little yellow popup. I sometimes find files by name.

Posted - 05/27/2006 : 16:46:36 sounds good, how do you set it? |

Posted - 05/27/2006 : 15:31:56 Amber,
You might need to set it. When I upgraded (8.02.01) it started out not at the root but some odd place. I set it to my current folder and every time I've opened it (even after rebooting) it has remained at that folder. It seems to keep it's own pointer just as the open and save command have their own pointers.
It's always struck me as funny when I change folders that when I change folders with open, it doesn't reset the save pointer! You wouldn't believe how many times I've had to move a file because I forget which folder was used!

Good morning ladies,
I could not agree with you more about the pattern browser panel in PCStitch Pro. The next maintenance release will include both of your ideas. The browser will open in the last folder it was viewing, and all entries will be sorted alphabeticaly.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Hi Troy, thanks for the latest update. Is the issue with the pattern viewer resolved, as in it opens the last folder viewed? Mine doesn't. Thanks |

Posted - 05/24/2006 : 02:59:46 Another suggestion:
When you right click a floss colour, one of the options could be to manually give a symbol to a colour. It gets tedious first adding it, then having to go and change it. I often use certain symbols for certain colors.
Also, the floss palette could look like the available colour-list, with the number and description next to each entry- and can be hidden like the symbols.
Thanks
Oh and in the rulers, it would be nice to have a line that follows the mouse, so it's easier to find a position. |

I agree. Even more, I wish the listings were in alphabetical order rather than the old "DOS" way of creation order. It is very difficult to find anything when you don't remember when you created what. We are used to seeing files and folders in alphabetical order now - especially when it is intended to be an alphabetical listing of folders such as 'A', 'B' ....

Posted - 05/16/2006 : 00:16:27 I realized I wrote my post incorrectly. What I meant is that the pattern browser uses the 'My Computer' and 'My Documents' folder as default. Is there any way to change the default folder it shows from the start? I have all my patterns in the same folder. Thanks |

Under the File option, at the very bottom are the latest (up to 4) files that you have opened. You can just go down to them and click on the one you want. As for Saving or opening files, it always remembers the last folder used for each and gives the options for that folder. You can change it and the new one becomes the default.
That should help you open your latest file and find the files you last worked with (assuming you generally have been working in the same folder).

It does help a little, but it needs hand-eye coordination.
Have two more suggestions:
- the undo list has a list attatched, so I can see what I've done.
- can the pattern browser be fixed so it opens the latest opened file? I have to look for my files every time I open PC Stitch.
Thanks |

Posted - 05/15/2006 : 09:21:43 Hello Amber,
First, I will see if we can get the pattern lists from DMC and make those floss lists available. I will need a floss card from DMC. Let me contact them to see what I can do.
For your other request: We do display the name of the pattern file in the status bar at the bottom of the design studio when your mouse passes over a thumbnail of a pattern in the Browse panel. Does that help?
Note: For those interested, we are discussing the Browse Panel in Pro which allows you to preview patterns in a selected folder. You bring up the Browse panel by selecting Browse from the File Menu.
Sincerely, Troy
