It's been a while since I've used this problem and am having difficulty remembering how to do this and searches haven't helped.

When I add stitches or backstitches, the symbol/block/line is showing up as black no matter what color is selected. When I view the pattern, they still show as black.

How do I change it so the stitches/symbols show as the selected color?

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what is going on. You might want to try and uninstall/reinstall.

I'd tried those before and just tried them again but none of them make a difference. They all still show as black blocks, black blocks with white symbols, black symbols, or black X's.

I'm not seeing an option to switch from black/white to color.

In the menu bar, there are some icons to define how to display your stitches/backstitches. It sounds like you have it set on Black/White. The icons are in a group of 5 - the first is a colorblock, then 2 with stars and then 2 with "x"s. Try them and see which one you want. I think I usually use the first star (color block with symbol). I think the 2nd star is black/white.
