I am unable to use any of the tools to make patterns, nor am I able to access the "help" menu of the program. When something like this has happened before I have simply removed the program and then reloaded it...but this time it won't be deleted. An error message appears...An error (-5005:0x80070002) has occured while running the setup.
And it says to close the program...which I had already done. I've tried it several times with no success. I have a craft fair coming up and would really like some help with this.

Thanks so much for all the advice, Diane.
My son (our go-to techie) is going to be here for Thanksgiving and I think I'll give him this info and watch him while he does it...just to be sure. In the meantime, I'll use the copy that I have on our laptop...smaller screen, so not as convenient, but, so far, at least, that program is still working well.

I've been using Revo Uninstaller for a couple of years. I had to BUY it when I bought my latest computer a year ago because the free version doesn't work on 64 bit machines. That is a bit of a gotcha!
I turn off the option to automatically set a restore point before it runs and usually run in "advanced" mode to find the most files and registry entries.
I've seen some uninstalls miss as many as 8,000 registry entries for itself that Revo finds and deletes.
Note - I do not recommend a registry "compactor" to remove extra space. That caused problems when I tried one and actually seemed to have INCREASED the size of the registry. Just remove the extraneous registry entries.
Another product to think about to keep your registry clean and running more swiftly is CCleaner by Pirosoft. It's free version works great on both 32 and 64 bit machines.

Thanks for the response, dragonlair.
I did go through the usual uninstall process (control panel...add/remove...etc)...several times, actually, with a restart of the computer in between, but still would get that same error message. I've been hesitant to download one of the uninstall programs from the web without a recommendation that it works...and that it doesn't cause any problems with the main computer. Thanks for the Revo rec...I may give it a try. |

Just "deleting" the program doesn't work. Have you tried the uninstall program? If you have something like Revo Uninstaller Pro, you can force an uninstall but the Pro version isn't free.
I suggest you send Mark an email (use the board's member list to get to his profile and send the message.
