Posted - 09/23/2011 : 03:22:06 Hi guys,
I'm sorry to have to ask this here. I've tried to figure it out on my own, but I just must be Daft.
I was working on a chart and had to stop to do other things and so I saved it, thinking I could open it again and make changes.
When I came back to it, I can indeed make changes to squares that have nothing in them, but I need to make changes to squares that are already in use. I've tried to delete the stitches/ symbols but can not.
Are patterns changeable after saving and closing then reopening ? And if so how?
I often wont have time to sit and chart a pattern from start to stop and will need to be able to keep all bits of a chart movable.
Edited to add : the parts I want to change are TEXT using the text tool. Is this part of the reason why, do you think ?
Also, how do you get your center lines on the grid a different colour ? Like Say red ?
Thanks for your help, and sorry to be a bother. |

Posted - 09/25/2011 : 10:15:02 Hiya Diane,
thanks for helping me out. I think my making changes problem is definitely Text related. I've found a work around of typing the text to give me the pattern then just re-writing them, it's slow, but better then making up new alphabets on my own was.
Cheers as well for help with colouring the center lines, that will work a treat. |

Posted - 09/23/2011 : 07:53:37 I've not used the text tool much but I suspect the problem is the text is considered an "object" because the same problem can occur using motifs from the libraries. Try to merge into the background and then you should be able to edit the stitches.
As for the center lines - the only way to do that is to manually create a LOOONG backstitch in a contrasting color both vertically and horizontally to mark you center. Note in your instructions that that color is NOT stitched but is for visual marking only.
Diane There is no such thing as a stupid question
