I got my Pro 9 reloaded. Now, I can't import an image. I only have 2 choices, one from a disk file, and the other from a scanner or digital camera.

How do I import from "my pictures"? I don't remember what was in the import box. It worked before.

Thanks for your comments! I do use my security updates. I use automatic updates too. I just won't be downloading a new IE browser again now that I'm on GC.

Joan,

Yes Anti-virus programs can cause odd problems. I had to stop using McAfee years ago because it decided not to let me access any internet site that had graphics. Even Microsoft was confused as to my problem. I solved it by removing McAfee (free from Comcast at that time) and installing AVG (free).

I later had to remove AVG when it started to hog resources. Removing it fixed a "win music" problem with one game. I switched to Avira at that point.

I use Firefox. I do not like Chrome. I don't like the way it installs in the first place - in each user's area, not a common area. I've not had Firefox affect anything. I do have IE 9 but use it only if the site I need doesn't do what I want with Firefox. Some sites only work right with IE. You should never totally uninstall IE, though. Some sites reference it, even if you're not using it and removing it can cause problems.

I disagree with your Staples Tech - especially with security updates. If you don't do them, you leave yourself open. I've not had a problem updating. I routinely let them go through. However, they must ASK! Only my antivirus is allowed to update itself without my approval. Everything else must ask first.

I'm glad you got your problem fixed. If you continue to have problems like this, you may need to change your anti-virus and/or firewall.

Good Luck,

Diane

I fixed it by uninstalling and re-installing my anti-virus program. This fixed my browser issues a week ago. My Staples tech told me that a virus program can cause small issues.

He also told me he never uses Internet Explorer. He prefers Google Chrome over Firefox. So, I'm now using GC browser. It's faster and safer than IE.

He also told me he never updates windows when asked. I had downloaded the new IE9 and that's when lots of issues started. He said that many of Windows updates are not tested before going public and that they depend on complaints to fix program issues.

I still get automatic window updates, but I don't click on the ones that ask if you want to download any upgrades.

So, if you are having issues, try uninstalling/re-installing your virus program.

I can get to that file, but when I click on the picture, the program freezes.

What happens if you click on "browse" for a disk file? That should give you a menu that looks similar to Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) so you can traverse through your folder tree to find the file you want.

I forgot to say that when I click on the import choice of either one in the drop down menu box, PCS freezes and is "not responding" and I have to reboot to get PCS cleared. Help!

There are only 2 choices in the place where to find files. One is the first one "interchangeable files" and the other is "all files". I tried "all files" and that didn't work either. What can I do now? It was working before.

"My Pictures" would be a disk file. You just need to specify where the disk file is located. Just click on "Browse" beside the box on the disk file option and tell it where your "My Pictures" folder is located.
