Here's one of those "not such a thing as a stupid question" questions, and I'm sure the solution is simple, but I cannot find the way to change an individual symbol for a color in a pattern. I don't need to change the font - just a symbol in a font. For instance, I would rather not use the numbers for symbols and would like to change those 9 numbers to symbols. I can bring up the symbol pallet, but how do I change the symbol?

I think I figured it out. I needed to have the pattern/floss pallet showing as well and the changes were made in it instead of the symbols chart where I expected to see the change.

I tried what you suggested, but it doesn't work, or I'm not understanding your instructions. When I click on the symbol I want to change, it does have a solid background slightly bluer than the rest, but when I then click on the symbol I want to replace it with, nothing happens.

When you click on a color in your palette, the symbol in the Symbols panel will have a solid background instead of the shaded or clear background. Just click on one of the unshaded symbols and it wil change the symbol for the palette color currently selected.
