I just loaded PCStitch into my new laptop. When I go in to view patterns that are already in the program it says there is an error and it will not let me view them. I am trying to open the alphabet that came with the program because my granddaughter wants to learn how to cross stitch so I was going to print out a pattern for her. I'm not sure what to do to open the pattern.

Hobbyware makes Pattern Maker, not PCStitch. Although the format has the same extension in some cases (.pat), it is not the same format.

I tried opening the alphabet pattern that came with the program but I got this error message: "PCStitch encountered error - 1 opening pattern file "C/program/files/hobbyware/pattern maker for cross stitch/patters/alphabgt.pat". I then started trying to open the other patterns and I got the same error message with all of them.

Exactly what were you trying to open?

I just downloaded the newest version - 9.01.005. I was trying to open it in the PCStitch program.

First, you might try a re-install in case something went wrong.

If that does not work, you need to report exactly what error you are receiving and what file you are trying to load. You may have to report this to Mark but I'll try to duplicate your problem from that. What version of the program are you running?

If it is the PCStitch Pattern Viewer, it does not support some of the newer files so you do need the true PCStitch for those.
