Posted - 05/29/2010 : 20:37:48 I have a pattern I created using PCStitch version 4. I got a new Windows 7 computer and just updated to PCStitch Standard 9 because version4 wouldn't work with Windows 7. Can I open the version 4 pattern with Standard 9? If not, does that mean I will have to re-create the pattern using Standard 9? It was a baby birth announcement pattern I want to re-utilize and time is running short to be able to get the announcement finished for an upcoming baby shower.

Posted - 05/29/2010 : 22:04:20 I have no idea if version 9 will read version 4. Theoretically, it should read all prior versions but there is a limit as to how far back it will read. Even version 7 is 6 years old! I'm pretty sure it will read 5 so you can try.
There are two other possibilities:
1 - try PatternViewer. It's free from the same PCStitch people. It doesn't seem to handle version 9 files but it might handle 7.
2 - try myriaCross. You can convert it to a higher level of PCStitch for you and according to what I saw, I think it should handle 4. However, it's not free. You may need to purchase a license to be able to actually convert it.
Good Luck,
