Are you finding it difficult or VERY SLOW to download install files or updates to PCStitch (and faimily)? Quite likely, it is simply your timing.

When I tried to download the new PRO 9 recently, it took 75 minutes to download the 56.8 MB file. I'm on broadband! I was later told that I was probably trying to download while they were working on the site.

A few days later, I upgraded Pro 9 from 9.00.001 to 9.00.002 which was 6.3 Mb. That took about 95 seconds. Much better and great based on some previous updates but still slow by broadband rates.

Yesterday I updated again. This time it was 29.7 MB to go to 9.00.003. The time to download this file which was half the size of the original download was 35 seconds! Roughly 1/3 the time for almost 5 times the data of the update from the day before!

I tried the original download again (not to keep - just to time) and it took maybe a minute. This one and the last update were done "after hours". Obviously the timing does make a big difference.

It appears that the best bet if you're having problems is to wait until after hours (for Ohio, USA). That's Eastern Time Zone.

This may not always work but it's something to try. If the download seems to be taking FOREVER, cancel it and try again in a few hours. It might work much more smoothly.

It only took me 18 mins to download the 9 version, which I think is pretty good.

The problems with the downloads from M&R Servers seems to be better (except for that first download). The repeat of the download from the EXACT SAME LINK took less than 2 minutes the second time around. That's why I point this out. I can't be the only one who has download problems. It may be my Internet provider (Comcast) that causes the problem but I was told that they were working on the site when I downloaded the first time.

It's still a good idea in general - if it seems to be taking forever - cancel and try again a few hours later.

But Diane, don't you always have slow download from the servers?

I downloaded 9 (I am EAGERLY waiting for the upgrade offer for Pro 8 users ) some time ago and it only took 13 minutes - on the other side of the world.
