Do you find when you create your patterns that the skin colors end up too dark?

There is a view pattern option that you can see what it thinks is right. Also, no import of an image is a perfect pattern. "Tweaking" of the base pattern is always expected to be needed to be done. Even simple cartoonish patterns need tweaking.

Remember that what you see and what the computer sees is completely different. You are free and encouraged to change colors as chosen by the computer. Just choose those closer to what you feel are appropriate.
