Posted - 11/15/2018 : 10:46:15 Hi Everyone, currently using PCStitch 11 and love it!
My question is the .PAT file type saved using PCstitch 11 should be usable for someone running PCStitch 10 right? If not how do you make the files compatible for both software platforms?
I ask because sending .PAT file to another user and they can't open in PCStitch 10. If anyone knows why that would be the case please let me know and any change needed to allow them to open/edit.

Posted - 11/15/2018 : 14:32:56 Patterns created in PCStitch 10 can be opened in PCStitch 11. However, the reverse is not true. Patterns created in PCStitch 11 can ONLY be opened in PCStitch 11.
This concept has been true for every version of PCStitch. Each new version can open files created by itself and ANY previous version. However, no earlier version can open a file created using a version higher than itself.
It's only backwards compatible. Not a general universal compatibility.
Remember that an extension is just letters. Any file can call itself .pat but that doesn't make it compatible with PCStitch.
An earlier version of PatternMaker had files called .pat but the two versions of .pat were not compatible with each other at all! Patternmaker changed the name of it's files to eliminate the confusion factor.
Diane There is no such thing as a stupid question
