I am trying out the demo of this product before I buy it. One question I have is can I import or merge more then one image at a time or do I have to get yet another program to merge them first. Thank you

You can import multiple images into patterns and you can copy portions of one pattern and paste it into another pattern. Merging patterns or images is not the same animal.

If you want a picture of one person and a picture of another person from 2 images, you can create two patterns and copy from one to the other or from both to a third to create the two people together. I don't think you can truly merge two patterns. Merging 2 images is beyond the scope of this product.
