I created a pattern using PCStitch 11 and shared with a friend but she has PCStitch 10. Her Pc Stitch 10 is giving an error saying its not a PcStitch file and cannot open.

Are the files between the not compatible with one another?

Sandra,

Every version of PCStitch is backward compatible for formats. That is, you can load any version that was made on that version or any previous version of the software.

However, every version of PCStitch has it's own special features and so older versions of the software will not read any pattern that was made by a newer version.

What you can do (and that's assuming no "fancy" features were used) is export your pattern to PCStitch 7 version. That is the base (although there are still a lot of patterns around for 6 or even 5). Your friend's version 10 will read those patterns.
