I saw a plaque for sale on-line that I want to replicate, not in black and white on a fake wood but by hand- stitched cross- stitch in colors of pale green trees, with shadows and lavender lettering....an unusual font with flourishes in the statement....plus I want to add a few more words. I scanned a catalog copy of the plaque but it is 4" X 2 ". I want to make a pattern of the design but have it be 16" X 8 " when finished. I've read all the instructions but I can't enlarge it to the right size, the letters aren't clear. I don't know how to even begin. Can anyone translate PC Stitch into PCS for Dummies?

You are an angel, Diane. I am going to print these and try it. I have never done anything like this before but with your help, I'm gonna try. I may be back soon.

Step 1 - figure out the stitch dimensions of your final project. That is the PIXEL dimension of your image. It may look small but a 1 pixel to 1 stitch ratio works best.
Step 2 - clean up the image as much as you can before importing it.
Step 3 - import
Step 4 - tweak!!!!!
The last is the most important. NO raw import is going to be what you want. You may have to spend hours adjusting stitches here and there to get what you want. Even the colors may be different because the computer sees color different than you do. You may even have to repeat steps 3 AND 4 if you decide you need more or fewer colors.
PCStitch will NOT add any specialty stitches like backstitches or fractionals. You have to add those manually later during the tweaking stage.
One extra note -- any pattern you create here may NOT EVER be given away. You are making a pattern from something that is most likely copyrighted so it MUST be for YOUR USE ONLY.
