I am trying to come up with a list of new features and enhancements for the next verison of PCStitch, and I thought this would be a great place to start!
What new features would you like to see or what would you like to see work differently?

Posted - 12/01/2025 : 14:12:28 Thank you, Dragonlair! I'll do some more research. Other than than struggling with the symbols, I'm really enjoying the software so far. |

Posted - 11/28/2025 : 22:25:24 I'm not sure the process, but you can create your own fonts for Windows. You can then set it as the default font. You can also use any font in Windows and even multiple fonts/pattern. I've got some with 5 or 6 different fonts included as each color/symbol is independent of the other colors and symbols.

Posted - 11/28/2025 : 16:45:16 It would be nice to be able to choose symbols OR numbers. As someone who has difficulty with symbol charts, having more options without having to go through and changing each symbol one by one would be very helpful.
Additionally, I can only work with 10 numbers with the current system, as I can only choose from pre-determined fonts. I create very colorful projects that sometimes use over 100 colors. |

Posted - 08/20/2025 : 09:38:40 Small is one thing, when I say "TINY", I MEAN "TINY"!
Also, what you see and what the computer sees is very, very different. I once did a simple black outline cartoony figure. The image that you could see was truly black outlines. What came through the conversion was a fuzzy black, brown, gray, yellow line outlining the figure.
That's why I ALWAYS say that the import of the image is JUST the first step. Even for a simple image, you have to expect hours (at least) of tweaking to get what you want.

However, if the image is too big for the size of the pattern (stitches width and height), the software has to merge multiple pixels into a single stitch color. That usually results in a badly blurred pattern.
However, if you make your initial jpeg as close as possible in pixels as the desired pattern is in stitches, there can be a 1 pixel to 1 stitch relationship that results in a more accurate pattern. Yes, the image looks TINY - imagine a pattern desired as 8 X 10 in 14 count being 112 x 140 pixels, but it works.

I used a single Image photo and can never get a clear workable chart. I could understand if I used a complex photo. the image i tried to import was a single figure (a college logo with just the center piece. very simple design. small image

Posted - 08/15/2025 : 10:18:27 I would like to see a better tighter resolution when you import a pic to chart. I have never imported any image that came out anywhere clear enough to work with. My images are normally very simple but I end up with no clear edge of the imported image, and so many colors that I just give up because the image just isn't workable for me.
also, since I first purchased PC Stitch, years ago, I have had issues with NOTE. I finally figured out by myself that the HELP of the program seems to be missing a piece of the puzzle. When I have inserted a NOTE on a chart, I have sadly put it right over my charted area *my bad*. or I no longer want the note so I try to delete the note. but in my opinion, a step is missing in the instructions . This would be my suggestion to correct my inability to delete. You must use selection tool, surround the NOTE only then Delete (suggestion that you move the note before doing this so you don't delete your charted section behind that note).

Posted - 07/13/2025 : 12:34:33 What you could do is to make a copy of the .pat file. Then, open the copy (keep the original for reference or in case of a problem). Create a color and distinct symbol that is as different as you can imagine from the other colors. As you stitch, replace the actual stitches with your "mark-up" color.
It's cumbersome but not much more than a mark-up feature would be.

Posted - 07/13/2025 : 10:22:50 Would it be possible have a mark up function. I do not use printed copies, I don't like paper. I have my patterns on my laptop and would like to mark up the stitches as I go like other apps I've seen. PCSitch is the only app I've ever used and I love it. |

Posted - 05/10/2025 : 14:45:49 A good thing would be to be able to add circles, ovals, triangles, and other basic shapes as an overlay and then remove it when finished with it's use. It would be a great help when designing a pattern, I was trying to form a halo and it was very difficult. |

Posted - 05/10/2025 : 12:17:31 There are probably a lot of DMC colors that have been discontinued, at least in some regions. What you should do is create your own palette of JUST the colors you want and skip those you know have been discontinued and any others you don't plan on ever using. You can always add colors from other lists if you need to do so.
Note -- just because some colors have been discontinued for you, doesn't mean they have are not still available in other parts of the world. Some removals are only for some regions.

Posted - 05/09/2025 : 23:41:33 Please remove DMC numbers from 3880-3899 from the program. These numbers are discontinued and it is very difficult to procure them. In fact, I have had to substitute for them in my patterns for quite some time now. Thankyou for your attention to this matter. Keith |
