I've tried time and time again to export charts as read-only, with no success. Every time I've given the file to someone else, even when password protected, the other person is able to simply go into the properties and unclick this box and make edits. What am I missing to make this possible?

As I told the previous poster in this thread - I don't work with read-only so I cannot help you. I suggest you contact Mark on the issue.

One thing I have learned. If you put the file in a zip, it is read-only. You can't change it but once it's outside the zip, you can. Maybe the easiest solution (once you get this glitch figured out), is to use a zipped form for stitching from and if you want to change the file, take it out of the zip, make your changes and then zip it back up again.

I have exactly the opposite problem. I've set a read only password to "1" so I can move my mouse around and not change the pattern while I stitch. I need to make some changes and cannot remove the read only check. Very frustrating.

I've not tried this so I don't know about this feature. You can contact Mark to ask for additional help.

You can print to PDF so the receiver just receives a PDF file and not an actual pattern. Unless they manually put it into PCStitch (a lot of work), they can't edit the file. Similar, an export to a JPG can be done.

There is probably no way to completely prevent someone from editing your file. Any way you have to give them the pattern in a way they can actually use it to stitch from, can then be manually manipulated to create an edited form.
