New user. Seems like the software is really good at importing pictures and pre-made patterns. Trying to just draw simple shapes like a diagonal line (not 45 degrees) and other shapes like rectangles, triangles and ovals. Not seeing any support for such. Suggestions? Do I have to draw in Paint and then import a picture?

You can use a backstitch to make the base line in whatever angle you want, then mark out the triangle and then remove the backstitch line later.
