hello
i would like to paint one square of the grid in yellow but when i choose the paint tool, it paints all the pattern in yellow.
Could you please help me ?

To do one square in a color, you do not want the "paint" tool. That is used to fill enclosed area with a single color. Say you want a checkerboard. You would do some in black and some in red. you could outline the board and then mark one line of stitches to mark off the individual areas. Then use paint to fill in the squares you marked out.

For just one stitch, you just select the type of stitch to make and click with the mouse. There is no real "tool" for that -- just point and click. The tools are for other features.

If you have selected "paint" and want to turn it off, just click it again.
