Posted - 10/04/2015 : 10:55:28 A few days ago I noticed that my PCStitch 10 looked a little different and I'm guessing there was some sort of update. Since then I have not been able to import pictures to work on. I get a message that says:
Error 99: External component has thrown an exception
It does it on every file, not just one. Has anyone seen this and know how to fix it? |

Posted - 10/19/2015 : 20:06:34 I know what you mean. So far, in almost 30 years, I have only "upgraded" DOS and one time was so I could get my LARGE (by 1987 standards) 40 MB hard drive into a single partition.
Since going to Windows (starting with Windows ME), I have used that machine until it wore out one way or another and just bought another machine with the newer version.
In the case of the machine I'm currently using, my Windows Vista machine began having power problems just about the time that Windows 8 came out. I took Windows 7 at a discount because I did NOT want 8. I've got 8.1 on a laptop but still prefer 7.
For Win 10 -- at least if you buy a machine with 10 installed on it, then at least your display drivers should work properly so the older software shouldn't be an issue. The problem now is some drivers, print, graphics, display ... are not compatible with 10 and that causes the associated software to fail, sometimes in weird ways!

Posted - 10/19/2015 : 17:53:29 Thank you, Dragon. I've forwarded my post to Mark. Sadly, I think we won't have much of a choice but to use Win10 in a few years. =\ I hope the PCStitch Win10 issues will be addressed soon. |

Posted - 10/19/2015 : 07:51:34 Geekstitcher,
I suggest you, and any others who are having problems since upgrading to Windows 10 to contact Mark. To my knowledge, PCStitch 10 is only officially supported through Windows 7 having not had any updates for some time. I am a volunteer and not an employee of M&R Tech so I cannot say for sure on anything.
It is possible that your problem is that your display drivers or other low-level drivers are not fully supported under 10. I have heard problems of people who have had such problems. I heard of one person who had a 2 month old printer that would not work because the driver had not been updated.
Check the user list. Select Mark and use his profile to send him an email on the issue.
I hope that something will come out officially from that direction soon with 10 being pushed on us unmercifully! Personally -- I have de-10ified both of my computers (removed all old updates that checked for 10 so I'm no longer being pressured - 1 with 7 and 1 with 8.1)

Posted - 10/19/2015 : 03:33:02 Was this problem ever resolved? I'm having this same problem since upgrading to Windows 10. The error when I try to import an image says "Error 20009 LEAD Error Invalid File Format". I reinstalled (which itself had an error of a missing font called "PCSt7b86.rra", which I ignored) but that didn't fix it. |

Posted - 10/05/2015 : 15:19:58 And now that I uninstalled and reinstalled it seems to keep forgetting that I am already registered. Every time I try to save or print or anything like that it makes me "unlock" it again and then it still doesn't work even though it says I'm registered. |

Posted - 10/05/2015 : 10:56:03 I tried all those things and I'm still getting the same message. :-(

Posted - 10/04/2015 : 12:10:19 There has not been an update to PCStitch 10 for a few years. Have you made changes to your system, such as upgrade to Windows 10 or install some other software? It may be that you have been infected with a virus or other malware.
As a first step, I suggest you make a FULL scan of your system with your anti-virus software. If that finds nothing or the problem persists after any correction is done, the I would try an uninstall/reinstall. You should not have to enter your registration code again (unless you use something like Revo-Uninstaller that might remove something in the registry needed to retain the registration).
If after all this, the program fails, I would contact Mark. You can find him from a search of the members here and then send him an email.
Good Luck,
