Posted - 06/19/2015 : 01:36:36 Hi I've been trying to open a chart from another program (much easier to edit and print out in PCStitch!!) This other program has the capability to export to PC-Stitch by creating a .pat file. But when I try to open it in PC Stitch, I get the "Unable to read beyond end of the stream" error message.
I have already contacted the other software co. to ask what the problem is, but haven't yet had a reply.
Is this something you have seen before, and if so, is there a way to open the chart? I REALLY hope so! Many thanks Daisy

Posted - 06/19/2015 : 13:18:55 It was PatternMaker that used to use the .pat extension. It may be just the free version but it may be the whole product that's no longer being supported.
It may be some feature of the pattern that doesn't convert properly. Does the pattern have any unusual feature?

Posted - 06/19/2015 : 08:49:13 Hello Diane - thanks for your reply - it's Cross Stitch Professional Platinum by DP Software. You can export charts created with their software as a variety of file types, one of which is specifically for PCStitch - your .pat ending. The export to PCStitch function has worked in the past, so I don't know why it won't now. Still waiting to hear from them.

I have not heard of this error but it is possible.
Also, at one time, there was another company that also used .pat as the extension for their patterns. They were not compatible with PCStitch's .pat files. Could you be using one of these?
