I am thinking of buying (finally!!) a new computer with OS Windows 8.1 Will my existing PC Stitch V10.23 run ok on it? How would I move the program onto the new computer?
Thanks.

Daisy,

I upgraded to Windows 7 (from Vista) just 2 weeks after Windows 8 came out. I got a sale on one of the last PCs at Walmart that still had windows 7 and it was $100 less than the same model with Windows 8! They just wanted to get rid of the old ones!

In my transition from Vista to Windows 7, more than 95% of my software transitioned with no trouble at all. I lost more software due to the change from 32 bit to 64 bit than I did to the change in operating systems. Windows 7 seems to be a a repackaging of Windows Vista that is just more acceptable to users.

There seems to be a bit more difference with Windows 8 but it seems to be more in the user interface (touch screen and so forth) than in the the core workings of the operating system.

With my experience in transitioning from Window ME to Window Vista (I skipped XP - it came out 2 weeks AFTER I got ME and they refused to even give me a discount on an upgrade) and then from Windows Vista to Windows 7, I do not envision that you will have much difficulty in the change.

If you do have any problems, contact Mark. 10.23 is the latest version and if it did not run under 8 or 8.1, Mark would surely have fixed it by now!

Thank you for that - I've been using a nine-year-old laptop running XP; its wheezing, creaks and groans are becoming terminal! I don't like the look of Windows 8, but don't know if the laptop will last until Windows 9 (which is supposed to be better than 8)appears!

As far as I know, the program should work fine under Windows 8.1.

If you have the product on CD, just install it again - and update as it prompts.

If it was a download, then download the latest copy and activate with the code you were given before.

That's all there is to it!

Have fun!!!!! (personally, I'm sticking to Windows 7 )
